Rich in vitamins and minerals, this nutritious Starfruit Mango Smoothie has a creamy texture and a sweet candy-like taste. And no added sugar or dairy are needed to make this recipe.
If you haven't heard of starfruit yet, let me introduce you to it because it tastes delicious! It's juicy and sweet like other familiar fruits, and it's abundant here in Hawaii this time of year. It's also popular in Southeast Asia, the South Pacific, Micronesia, and parts of East Asia, and it's known as Carambola as well.
The health benefits of this fruit are numerous! It's low in sugar and rich in antioxidants, vitamin C, fiber, copper, pantothenic acid, and potassium.
The texture is similar to that of a grape or an apple. So, if you're wondering how can you make this recipe if you can't find starfruit where you live, you can substitute it for grapes or apples. But if you have it available in your local stores or farmers markets, I strongly suggest you try it.
Do I need to say anything about how beautiful starfruit looks when sliced? It's simply a stunning yellow star. Real food is truly beautiful and flavorful by nature 🙂
Because starfruit and mangos are in season here in Hawaii, I decided to pair these sweet fruits together to make this smoothie. The result is simply delicious! It tastes like candy in liquid form and it's as good as my strawberry milkshake.
It's sweet, refreshing and I love serving it with my chocolate granola for some added crunch. It has the most amazing creamy, smooth texture. Watch the texture as I pour it in the glass in my video above.
This is probably my favorite instructional video I've filmed so far. I love with the colors I was able to capture from all the beautiful fruits I used.
If you liked it too, I'd love to know so please comment below and tell me what you think. And I can't wait to hear from you after you had the chance to make this recipe! Don't be shy and let's chat below.
